Loose Ends Mary O'Reilly Series Book 1 edition by Terri Reid Romance eBooks

When the first book in a series of nineteen on the last count, number close on 1300 reviews already, all of which rate this book between four and five stars, you better start thinking you are dealing now with a major literary phenomenon.
Well, all those reviews got it right. A private investigator seeing ghosts just has a sneaky kind of advantage, even if she does run into the side of a fort or try to rescue a cat out of a tree in the middle of the night.
I adore the humour on display in this book. When snickers turn into outright guffaws, startling your house mates whenever you do so at the most inopportune or unexpected times, you can bet I am really enjoying the reading of this book.
Besides, put yourself in the place of Mary O'Reilly , being able to tell Bradley in such an off hand manner that you can see ghosts ever since you died, that is so richly hilarious that you simply have to become even more outrageous subsequently.
I loved this story. I love the basic premise. I love the humour and the main characters of Mary and Bradley and even Rosy and Stanley. I love the easy narrative and the fact that Mary has so many facets to her character. I love that she deals with multiple cases at a time.
In short, this is one major cosy mystery phenomenon. All those reviewers have got it bang on! Enjoy!

Loose Ends Mary O'Reilly Series Book 1 edition by Terri Reid Romance eBooks Reviews

The beginning of an interesting series. This book starts off a little slow but quickly picks up. Loose Ends is definitely a stand alone book in the series but we get a hint of background with the characters that keeps possibilities open for future books. Mary is an ex-police officer turned "ghost detective" that can talk with ghost. I like the fact that although she can see the deaths of the ghost, she is not immune to the violence. Her emotional reactions are documented and make her feel more real. I would have liked a bit more personality from the characters but I think I will see more as I read the next books. I also would refer to this book as suspense as opposed to mystery because once I found out the history of the case it was easy to figure out the murderer (and it still held my interest).
This book was a delightful surprise for me. Inventive to say the least. Mary O"Reilly is an ex-cop from Chicago. After dying on the job, she's brought back to life, and is now able to see and hear ghosts...people who are dead, usually by foul means, but who just can't seem to pass on because...well someone killed them. Or no one knows they're dead. Mary has moved out of Chicago (all those ghosts, so little time) to a small town in Illinois and is now working with ghosts, or rather, real people who are having problems with ghosts. Mary is now a private investigator. Her first job seems easy enough but soon turns into something big and unexpected. Then Mary is attacked. The new sheriff is at first a skeptic about the ghost thing, but is soon a believer, and busy trying to keep Mary safe while they search for a killer. The ending was smashing and very satisfying. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
Or is that a murdered ghost. This book is a terrific ghost story. This is the first book in the Mary O'Reilly Series. It is the first book by Terri Reid that I have read but it certainly won't be the last. I luved this book. After Mary O'Reilly died she had a choice, stay dead or come back. Being a reasonable person she decided to come back, obviously. Nobody told her that when she came back she would be able to see, hear and talk to ghosts. Some are just staying where they feel comfortable but others are restless for other reasons, they have unfinished business. Maybe no one knows where their body is or who killed them or various other problems. But they are drawn to Mary like metal to a magnet. She was a decorated Chicago police officer, that's how she was killed. But she could no longer stay in Chicago, too many ghosts there. So she moves to small town America and becomes a private investigator, specializing in ghostly cases. When
Ok, I’ll admit it. I picked this up from one of my free lists. I can’t remember when or which one, I’ve had this on my TBR list for so freakin’ long. Somewhere along the line, I added narration for the low, low price of $1.99. So I paid $2 and change for the opportunity to listen to this.

I think the cover appealed to me. I think the summary appealed to me. After listening to the sample clip a few dozen times, the narrator didn’t do that much for me. She didn’t make me want to listen to the book. I think I finally got it because I was running out of daytime listening. (Deep, rumbling male voices for night / Bright, upbeat female for day.)

Hell, even the first chapter kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Erin Spencer didn’t impress me as the narrator to enhance the dark and creepy.

But to be honest…the blend of Terri Reid’s writing and Erin Spencer as Mary O’Reilly…well, that’s just gold.

By the third chapter, I was hooked. By the end, I’d acquired an appreciation for the voice I hadn’t liked to start with. Erin Spencer is Mary O’Reilly. (Please don’t let me find out somewhere in the middle of freakin’ 15 books that someone else narrates this series.)

Add the ghosts, the devastatingly handsome police chief, a chewy mystery or two and that’s a recipe for a good afternoon (doing dishes, folding clothes…not stopping the cleaning because you’d have to take out your earbuds to do anything else….)

This is not your typical female running headlong into danger. This is not one where the gorgeous guy saves the day. This is different.

Hell, I enjoyed the whole experience so much, I’ve already purchased the next book. Guess what I’m doing tomorrow…. Well, the house is pretty much clean so yardwork?
